Serhat Saat and Istanbul Bilgi University Partnership: “Anatomy of a Watch” Workshop – Innovative Contributions to Academia and Industry
Serhat Saat and Istanbul Bilgi University jointly organized the “Anatomy of a Watch: Principles of Mechanism Functioning” workshop, which made a significant impact in both academic and professional circles. The event took place in Kazandibi on Thursday, March 6, from 09:00 to 12:00. With the participation of many students and relevant course attendees, this workshop offered a valuable opportunity for participants to gain in-depth knowledge about the workings of watch mechanisms and to design their own creations. The workshop was led by Serhat Saat’s master watchmaker and was further enriched by the contributions of expert instructors Rana İmam Esirger, Suat Batuhan Esirger, and Department Head Özlem Er through
interactive presentations and hands-on sessions.During the workshop, participants thoroughly learned about the basic structure of Japanese watch mechanisms, the differences between Swiss and Japanese watch systems, and effective solutions to common issues in mechanical watches. Students actively engaged in identifying watch components and performing repair tasks, thereby reinforcing their theoretical knowledge with practical experience. These hands-on sessions ensured that the topics were conveyed in a clear, step-by-step manner. In addition, interactive discussions and group work helped participants develop creative thinking skills and gain diverse perspectives.
